Thanks for your reply.

My problem description wasn't exactly correct. The error only occurred
when I restarted Eclipse.

The error occurred because i had xerces-1.2.3.jar in my java home ext
subdirectory.

So I'm now investigating frameworks as the place to put (keep) this
file.
