We had the same problem when we were using an older version of CVS (for
compatibility with wrappers) on the server. We've since abandoned wrappers
and are using a more recent version (1.11.12) on the server (gentoo linux)
and all of our CVS problems have gone away (we were also getting lots of
errors about the -C flag that eclipse would try to send on some actions). I
do recall reading somewhere that Eclipse only supports newer releases of
    CVS.

I see the code on the left selected (Common file: FileName.java 1.16) and
the window on the right (Repository file: FileName 1.16) is empty. The CVS
console shows no activity. See attached screenshot.

    Thanks!
