Eclipse 3.0.1 becoming much slower!

Hi,
      very recently we have upgraded our development systems from
Eclipse2.1.2 version to Eclipse3.0.1.(and also corresponding wolips).
Eclipse2.1.2 used to crash very frequently, but the surprising thing in
Eclipse 3.0.1 version is that, it is becoming much slower(ofcourse not
crashing!) and it seems even the entire system becoming slow.
And one more thing that need to be heeded is that, the development
systems are of very good configurations like 512 MB RAM, PENTIUM 4.
Could any one of you usher us in this aspect.
