    My preference is that intermediate build products go in a directory
    somewhere (bin), but that the final build product goes in the project
    root. I never did like creating a directory that contains only a
    single file/dir.

    My greater preference, however, is for the two build systems (f/w and
    app) to put the final build product in a similar location by default,
    in accordance with the Principle of Least Astonishment.
