Thanks for your reply; I should clarify as follows:

Yes, attempting to get a copy of 3.2.2 fails.

    However ...

And I wouldn't expect what I see as the core problem to change much as
and when I do get a fuller Eclipse, which seems to be ...

The full error displayed in the Update Manager dialogue is:

    -
An exception occurred while downloading feature from "http://mirrors
    <etc>/org.apache.batik_1.6.0.v20060613<etc>.jar".
    Do you want to retry?

Having tried at least half a dozen different mirros, all at different
times, I can say that no amount of selecting different mirrors makes any
    difference.

Thanks - I believe I've now perused all the Wiki help doco, and none
seems to help with this particular problem. This after all, seems to be
an Eclipse plug-in Update Manager problem, rather than a WOProject
problem per se. I'll be happy to document the workaround when we figure
    it out.

    I don't think I'm past the first hurdle! :-(

Is EasyEclipse contra-indicated with WOLips for any reason? Otherwise it
does seem at least to get me past the first hurdle.

A different client to download? I'm using Firefox and http - other
    recommendations?

    Yes, I'm in agreement.

The error is always the same: the Update Manager looks like it obtains
one or two other jars, then cannot obtain the batik.jar and fails.

I'm inclined to think there may be some straightforward problem getting
out to these mirrors through my http firewall - any thoughts there?

    Thanks again
