    It turned a static html element into a dynamic one:

    ie:

    <td>Stuff</td>

    became:

    <wo:WOGenericContainer elementName = "td">Stuff</wo:WOGenericContainer>

    or

    <input type="submit" value="save" />

    became:

    <wo:submit value="save"/>
