    Thanks for the quick response guys.
    Machine is an iMac Core2 duo 3.33Ghz with 4GB. Eclipse.ini settings are -Xms40m, -Xmx512m, MaxPermSize256m.
    There was no sign of any operation in progress in the lower right corner of Eclipse.
    Next time it locks up I will check jstack and/or increase the permgen... if that doesn't do it I'll be back :-)

    You can also run jstack against the Eclipse process when it does it. This should pinpoint where it is hanging. For me, for a while, it was in an svn plugin.
